Truitjies Kraal Cederberg

We made use of our second opportunity to return to Truitjies Kraal in the cederberg - this time without the rain. Walking through these magestic rock formations puts you back in time with a total sense of isolation. This is a great location for the whole family to come and explore, even those who do not enjoy the long more strenuous hikes, will love it here. This does not fall amongst the 'high-profile' activities in the area, but for a photographer, the opportunites for landscapes... it stands out by far. We can even go so far as to say its one of the most scenic places in the cederberg.

Maltese Cross Cederberg

There are a few places in the Cederberg that are on the top of your 'to-do' list. The Maltese Cross is one of them. A 5 hour hike up and over a mountain (5km walk to get there) will take you to this spectacular rock formation at the foot of the Sneeuberg Mountain aka the highest peak in the area, peaking just over 2000m. The snow and the ice en route made this walk just that little bit more interesting and fun.

We finally found a Cedertree growing in the wild

The almost extinct Cedertree is as ellusive as they are said to be. The last time we visited this area, we tried all over to find these trees growing naturally in the wild. After some research and a few phonecalls, Dawie from Driehoek was kind enough to take us to this special place. It was a walk not for the faint hearted, but worth every effort to find them growing ontop of this beautiful mountain. Thanks Dawie and Hennie Genis for joining us on this special adventure.

Vandag is jy 'n bevoorregte mens as jy jouself langs so 'n boom in sy natuurlike omgewing bevind.
